What it is to know

I am in the middle of a very interesting conversation with my friend and Temenos scholar, Joseph Milne, about what it is is to know.  He is helping me to understand how medieval scholars like Thomas Aquinas expressed this.  It is wonderful and refreshing to reach back before the Enlightenment to a time of wholeness and participation.  Deeply moving.  When we know something, seeing it for what it truly is, we participate in a reciprocal giving and receiving in which that which we seek to know offers itself to us and we receive it.  Thus the known is fulfilled in us.
